Unifor Local 899 Alberta About

Hello Members,

Welcome to the website for Unifor 899. We represent employees of CTV Calgary and CTV Edmonton.

On this website you will find links to our collective bargaining agreement. We recently ratified a new contract which will expire December 31, 2023.

We also have a link to forms for the Education Trust Fund. This is not a union driven initiative, it is offered by the company but it is made up of both company and union members. Each year employees who are fulltime can use/claim up to $1,500 dollars while a part time employee can use/claim up to $750.

There are 4 employees – 2 in Calgary and 2 in Edmonton – who sit on this committee so please reach out to a member of the executive with your questions and we can refer you to one of the union committee members. There are guidelines about what courses or kinds of courses do and do not apply to this fund so you might want to reach out to ensure you would be covered before you enroll in a course.

We also have a health and safety committee which is also comprised of union members and company employees. If you have a health and safety issue you can reach out to a member of the executive and we will put you in touch with one of the union committee members for assistance.

We have three general membership meetings a year just to keep everyone up to date with what is going on. We try to aim to have these in January or February, April, and September.

We have an afternoon meeting at 1:30pm and an evening meeting at 7:30pm and we try to keep these to about 45 minutes in length but they can go longer depending on what issues our members are facing. We do have gift certificates and we draw a couple names to win those at each meeting.

The executive recently started a Facebook group in order to engage/inform/reach out to more of the membership. If you have not yet been invited to join the group please send an email to a member of the executive. You will find our names and a contact email for your inquiry at the bottom of this page.

In Solidarity,

Amy Stalker
